Our History

ODI was born from the dream of bringing water and hope to the most remote communities in the Merendón mountains, where the lack of drinking water and electricity limited the daily lives of their inhabitants. In these regions, families had to walk long uphill distances to fetch water—a task that fell mainly on women and children, who carried heavy containers according to their strength.

In 2001, our founder, Rolando E. López, together with Michael Campana R.I.P. from the Ann Campana Judge Foundation (ACJF), began promoting drinking water systems that made use of the natural springs in the mountains. These projects transformed community life: access to clean water significantly reduced waterborne illnesses, and having water directly in their homes allowed families to live with greater dignity.

What began as a single project soon became a mission. In 2009, the Organization for Integral Development (ODI) was officially established, with the purpose of continuing to bring health, education, and well-being to more communities across Honduras.
